Transparent data practices you can trust

At OpenbooQ, transparency isn't just our business model—it's how we handle your data. This policy explains exactly what information we collect, how we use it, and the control you have over your personal data.

Information We Collect

We collect information to provide better roofing services and maintain our commitment to transparency. Here's exactly what we collect and why:

Personal Information

  • • Name, email address, and phone number
  • • Home address and property details. An address you type is sent to our mapping provider to be matched to a real location, and to Google's imagery services to measure the roof
  • • Payment information (processed securely by Stripe)
  • • Communication preferences and history

Usage Information

  • • Website interactions and page views
  • • Recordings of how a page is used — pointer movement, scrolling and clicks — captured by our session replay tool
  • • Roof measurement tool usage
  • • Material preferences and selections
  • • Support chat conversations

Technical Information

  • • IP address and device information
  • • Browser type and operating system
  • • Cookies and similar tracking technologies
  • • Location data (with your permission)

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to deliver exceptional roofing services and maintain our transparent, customer-first approach:

Service Delivery

Provide roofing estimates, coordinate installations, and manage projects

Communication

Send project updates, support responses, and important notifications

Payment Processing

Process payments securely and manage billing information

Service Improvement

Analyze usage patterns to enhance our platform and services

Security & Fraud Prevention

Protect your account and prevent unauthorized access

Legal Compliance

Meet regulatory requirements and resolve disputes

Information Sharing

We share your information to deliver your project, to run the site, and to measure our advertising. Here is exactly who receives what, including the sharing you can switch off:

We DO Share With:

  • Certified Contractors: Project details needed to deliver your installation
  • Payment Processors: Billing information for secure transactions
  • Service Providers: The vendors listed under Third-Party Services, each limited to what its function needs
  • Advertising & Measurement Partners: Site activity — the pages you view and the estimate steps you complete — goes to Google and Meta so we can measure and target our ads. This is the sharing that Your Privacy Choices turns off.
  • Legal Authorities: When required by law or to protect rights

We NEVER Do:

  • • Exchange your name, phone number, email or address for money
  • • Pass your contact details to lead brokers, lead resellers or data brokers
  • • Hand your details to unrelated companies to market their own products to you
  • • Sell or share anything at all once you have opted out
  • Share mobile information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with anyone.

Why the distinction matters: the advertising partners above receive how you used this site, not a copy of your contact details. Under Texas and other state privacy laws that activity still counts as sharing for targeted advertising, so it is disclosed here and it is something you can refuse.

Data Security

We implement industry-leading security measures to protect your personal information:

Encryption

All data encrypted in transit and at rest using AES-256 encryption

Secure Infrastructure

SOC 2 compliant hosting with regular security audits and monitoring

Access Controls

Multi-factor authentication and role-based access for all team members

Opting Out of Targeted Advertising

Texas and several other states give you the right to opt out of targeted advertising and of the sale or sharing of your personal data. There are two ways to exercise that right here, and both do the same thing.

Global Privacy Control

If your browser or an extension sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out. You do not have to tell us anything or click anything — the signal is read before any advertising or analytics tag is requested, so those tags are never loaded in the first place.

Your Privacy Choices

Use the Your Privacy Choices page, linked in the footer of every page. It records your choice in a preference cookie that applies across openbooq.com and its subdomains, so you only have to set it once.

Because the preference is stored in a cookie on this browser, clearing your cookies clears it, and it does not carry to other devices or browsers.

What opting out actually does: the tags marked "Does not load if you opt out" under Third-Party Services are not requested at all — no script is fetched and no data leaves your browser for them. It is not a setting passed to those vendors after the fact. If we cannot read your preference for any reason, we treat you as opted out. Two things are unaffected: TrustedForm, which records the consent you give when you submit a form, and the vendors needed to run a feature you chose to use. Opting out never affects your quote, your price or your project.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to improve your experience and understand how our website is used.

The controls below record preferences for this browser. To stop advertising and analytics tags from loading at all, use Your Privacy Choices or send Global Privacy Control, as described above — that is the setting the tags themselves check.

Third-Party Services

These are the companies that receive data when you use this site, what each one gets, and whether opting out stops it. The list is generated from the site's own configuration, so it stays in step with what actually runs.

Runs in your browser

Google Tag Manager (Advertising & measurement)
Blocked when you opt out

Loads and configures our measurement and advertising tags. Site activity routed through it — pages viewed, estimate steps completed — reaches Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta.

Receives: Pages viewed, funnel steps, device and browser details, IP address

View Google Tag Manager privacy policy
Google Analytics (Advertising & measurement)
Blocked when you opt out

Reports how the site is used in aggregate — which pages are visited, and where visits come from.

Receives: Pages viewed, session activity, approximate location from IP address

View Google Analytics privacy policy
Microsoft Clarity (Product analytics)
Blocked when you opt out

Session replay and heatmaps. It records how a page is interacted with — pointer movement, scrolling, clicks and the fields you move between — so we can find where the site is confusing.

Receives: Page interaction recordings, device and browser details, IP address

VisionBridge (Advertising & measurement)
Blocked when you opt out

Connected-TV advertising attribution. It measures whether a visit to this site followed one of our streaming-TV ads.

Receives: Page visits, device and network details, IP address

TrustedForm (ActiveProspect) (Advertising & measurement)
Blocked when you opt out

A single-pixel beacon that loads on every page. It reports that a browser opened the page; it does not read what you type into a form.

Receives: Page visits, device and network details, IP address

Chatbase (Customer support)
Only when you use the feature

Powers the chat assistant on the site. Loaded on desktop and tablet only; phones use the phone line instead.

Receives: Messages you send in the chat window

Mapbox (Service delivery)
Only when you use the feature

Address autocomplete. The address you type into an estimate or coverage check is sent to Mapbox to be matched to a real location.

Receives: The address text you type

View Mapbox privacy policy
Enhancify (Service delivery)
Only when you use the feature

Provides the financing application embedded on our financing page. Anything you enter into that application goes to Enhancify, not to us.

Receives: The details you enter into the financing application

Stripe (Service delivery)
Only when you use the feature

Processes payments. Card details are entered directly into Stripe and are never held by us. PCI DSS Level 1 certified.

Receives: Payment card and billing details

View Stripe privacy policy
Supabase (Service delivery)
Only when you use the feature

Hosts the database behind your account, quotes and project records.

Receives: The account, quote and project information you give us

View Supabase privacy policy

Receives data from our servers

These never run code in your browser. They are used to build your estimate and to contact you about it, and each receives only what that step needs.

Google Maps Platform & Solar API

Turns a property address into imagery and roof geometry so an estimate can be produced.

Receives: Property address and coordinates

View Google Maps Platform & Solar API privacy policy
EagleView

Produces roof measurement reports for a property.

Our Commitment to Data Privacy

At OpenbooQ, we believe that transparency in pricing should extend to transparency in data practices. When you use our platform to get a roof replacement estimate, we collect only the information necessary to provide you with an accurate quote and complete your installation directly. We do not exchange your contact details for money, and we do not pass them to lead brokers or to unrelated companies for their own marketing.

The data we collect — including your address, roof measurements, and contact information — is used to generate your estimate, match you with qualified installers in your service area, and communicate with you about your roofing project. Separately, how you use this site is shared with our advertising and measurement partners so we can tell which of our ads are working; you can switch that off at any time through Your Privacy Choices, and we honour the Global Privacy Control signal automatically. We use industry-standard encryption and security protocols to protect your information at every step of the process.

You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal information we hold about you at any time. If you have questions about how we handle your data, or if you'd like to exercise your privacy rights, please contact our support team at the information provided in this policy. We are committed to responding to all privacy-related inquiries within 30 days.
